Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

Several airlines are offering fares to several Mainland Chinese cities for a great price. You can fly for as little as $487 round-trip between New York (JFK) and Beijing (PEK) on ANA, though plenty of other deals are available to other cities such as Shanghai (PVG), Chengdu (CTU) and Xi’an (XIY). The deals are generally available from the end of September through December 2017, but exact availability will depend on where you’re originating and where you’d like to travel to. As always, we recommend doing your research on Google Flights and then completing your booking directly through the airline when possible. If you don’t already have a visa for travel to China, we recommend using Allied Passport & Visa to help you expedite what can normally be a confusing and time-consuming process.
