Delta Flash Sale: Domestic Awards From 20,000 SkyMiles Round-Trip
Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.
Here's your chance to travel from sea to shining sea at a discounted award rate. Delta's offering a flash sale on award tickets to select US cities, with round-trip rates starting at 20,000 + taxes and fees in economy. In order to take advantage, you must purchase your round-trip ticket by July 12 and travel between September 6 and October 31.
Delta lists these specific destinations as eligible for the 20,000-SkyMile ticket, but we're finding that the discounted rates don't adhere exactly to this list:
- Baltimore (BWI)
- Boston (BOS)
- Buffalo (BUF)
- Idaho Falls (IDA)
- Knoxville (TYS)
- Las Vegas (LAS)
- Philadelphia (PHL)
- Phoenix (PHX)
- Rapid City (RAP)
- Reno (RNO)
- Sacramento (SMF)
- Salt Lake City (SLC)
- San Antonio (SAT)
- St. Louis (STL)
Keep in mind that you might find better deals than advertised. For example, we found a round-trip ticket from New York (LGA) to St. Louis (STL) for 19,000 SkyMiles and $11.20 in taxes and fees. Or, if you're traveling on a shorter route — New York to Boston, for example — you'll likely find the total award ticket comes to a total of less than 20,000 miles. If you're interested in traveling to any of the included cities, this could be a great opportunity to book at the 20,000-SkyMile sale rate.
Some examples of what you can book:
New York (LGA) to St. Louis (STL) for 19,000 SkyMiles + $11.20 round-trip:
Atlanta (ATL) to Sacramento (SMF) for 20,000 SkyMiles + $11.20 round-trip:
New York (JFK) to Las Vegas (LAS) for 20,000 SkyMiles + $11.20 round-trip:
Orlando (MCO) to Salt Lake City (SLC) for 20,000 SkyMiles + $11.20 round-trip:
Los Angeles (LAX) to Boston (BOS) for 20,000 SkyMiles + $11.20 round-trip:
Omaha (OMA) to Salt Lake City (SLC) for 20,000 SkyMiles + $11.20 round-trip:
Bottom Line
Delta doesn't publish an award chart, so there's no telling just exactly how discounted these award sale fares are. However, if you're thinking about taking a trip to any of the included cities, this could be a good deal — especially if you find a route that totals less than the 20,000 figure. Even if you're not flying to one of the listed cities, it could be worth checking to see if it's eligible for a discounted award ticket.
If you don't have enough SkyMiles in your account, it could be a good idea to apply for one of the Delta SkyMiles credit cards to ensure you're able to take advantage of an offer like this next time one pops up. For example, the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express comes with a bonus of 30,000 SkyMiles after you spend $1,000 in the first three months and a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your card within the first three months. You’ll earn 2 miles per dollar on Delta purchases and 1 mile per dollar on everything else.
