This year hasn’t been kind to British Airways. Early this month, the London-based carrier experienced a massive IT outage that caused it to cancel all flights arriving at and departing from London’s Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW) airports for almost an entire weekend. Adding insult to injury, it was later revealed that the massive system failure was caused by someone accidentally turning off a power switch.

More recently, things got even worse. We learned that BA flight crews will be striking for just over two weeks starting July 1, which is part of a dispute over wages. This particular strike is expected to be more impactful than others, due to it falling smack dab in the middle of the busy summer travel season. To lessen the effect of the strike, BA applied to wet lease planes from Qatar to operate short-haul flights from London that will be affected by the strike.

Now, we’re learning that even with the wet leased aircraft from Qatar, BA’s already canceling several flights in anticipation of the strike that’s set to begin this weekend. While the airline will maintain its normal schedules from Gatwick (LGW), City (LCY), Stansted (STN) and Bristol (BRS) airports, it will be canceling several flights from its main hub at LHR — 12 flights to Doha (DOH), which will be taken over by Qatar Airways, three to Abuja, Nigeria (ABV) and one to Muscat, Oman (MCT).

Any passengers that are scheduled to fly on a canceled flight can elect to receive a full refund, get rebooked to a nearby destination or get rebooked on a different departure date.
