Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

Air Canada is currently offering discounted fares on its flights between Newark (EWR) and Vancouver (YVR). We’re seeing round-trip flights from $295 with availability from September 2017 through the end of the schedule in early April 2018. Air Canada uses a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for this route, which would make for a comfortable trip from one end of the North American continent to the other. Additionally, if you’re an Air Canada elite, you may be able to select premium economy seats for free (with regular economy service).

Note, too, that Vancouver is close to the famed Whistler ski resort — if you’ve been wanting to book an epic ski trip, now’s the time to do so. When you search on Google Flights, you’ll notice that it’s going to prompt you to book with its separate tickets feature, which means you’ll have to book the outbound and return flights separately to get the best price.
