Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

Inexpensive airfares to Europe have been plentiful lately and here’s a great one to Spain. We’re seeing fares as low as $376 round-trip to Barcelona (BCN) and Madrid (MAD) from a number of East Coast cities, including New York (JFK), Boston (BOS) and Miami (MIA). Barcelona flights will be on either American or Iberia, and there are a few more carrier options on flights to Madrid, though they’re a bit more expensive.

These prices are generally available from the end of October through early December, and it looks like you’ll have to stay in Europe for a week in order to score one of these fares. Use Google Flights to find the dates you want, then book on Orbitz, Expedia or directly with the airline itself.

Airline: Oneworld and SkyTeam carriers
Routes: JFK/BOS/MIA to BCN or MAD
Cost: $376+ round-trip in economy

Pay With: The Platinum Card from American Express (5x on airfare), Chase Sapphire Reserve, Citi Prestige Card (5x on airfare) or Chase Sapphire Preferred Card (2x on travel)
