Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
Earlier this week we saw some great fares from the West Coast of the US to Oslo, Norway, on a mix of Star Alliance carriers. Today, the price has dropped even further on flights to nearby Copenhagen via Star Alliance partner Air Canada.
These discounted fares are available for roughly the same timeframe as the Oslo deal — the end of October through mid-December 2017 — and only require one stop through Toronto, Canada. They will generally ticket on United, but the flights themselves are on Air Canada, so you'll get one free checked bag and a complimentary meal during your international journey, along with a ride on Air Canada's 787 Dreamliner between Toronto and Copenhagen in each direction.
We recommend searching for your ideal travel dates on Google Flights and then completing your booking directly through the airlines or via Orbitz or Expedia. Note that most of these prices require a minimum 7-night stay.
