Good news A350 fans! There’s a new A350 route coming to the US, and it’s on top-notch Singapore Airlines. In the schedule changes Singapore Airlines just loaded in its system last night, it’s replacing the 777-300ER on its Singapore-Manchester-Houston (SIN-MAN-IAH) route with a new Airbus A350-900XWB. Since the A350 does not have a first-class cabin, that does mean that first class is being eliminated on this route. If you’ve booked first class for a flight now operated by the A350 be sure to contact the airline for assistance.
The new aircraft launches on this route starting January 17. If you want to fly the “inaugural,” here’s the schedule for the first A350 flights on this route:
- SIN-MAN, SQ #52, departing January 17 at 2:15am
- MAN-IAH, SQ #52, departing January 17 at 10:10am
- IAH-MAN, SQ #51, departing January 17 at 6:50pm
- MAN-SIN, SQ #51, departing January 18 at 11:10am
If you’re interested in redeeming miles from IAH-MAN, an economy award will cost 20,000 KrisFlyer miles one-way, premium economy is 45,000 miles and business is 57,500 miles. However, if you book the flight online, you’ll save 15% off the award cost – making the effective cost 17,000 for economy, 38,250 for premium economy and 48,875 miles for business. There’s currently award availability on the inaugural IAH-MAN flight on January 17 in all three classes. But, unfortunately, none of the cabins have availability all the way through to SIN on this first flight.
Need more KrisFlyer miles for the redemption? Singapore Airlines is a transfer partner of all four major transferrable point currencies. You can transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou points and Starwood Preferred Guest – all at 1:1 ratios. Not sure which transferable points to use? We crunched the numbers for Singapore Airlines’ San Francisco-Singapore route. While the redemption amounts will differ, the take-away points should be the same.
Revenue flights from IAH-MAN start at just $631 round-trip in economy ($327 one-way) and $3,842 round-trip in business ($2,391 one-way). Meanwhile, revenue flights from IAH-MAN-SIN start at $1,096 round-trip in economy and $4,546 round-trip in business. It’s even cheaper if you fly MAN-IAH, with fares starting at just $463 round-trip in economy and $3,005 in business.
The Singapore-Manchester-Houston-Manchester-Singapore route takes so long to fly, the route will utilize two of the six Airbus A350-900s that Singapore Airlines has received – of the 67 that the airline has ordered. If you’re curious about the new plane, Singapore Airlines has a virtual tour of the cabin interior. But, TPG was lucky enough to ride along for a Singapore Airlines A350 delivery flight – which was Airbus’ 10,000th aircraft delivery. So, you can check out our tour of the brand new aircraft.
Not sure where to sit? TPG has got you covered there too. Here are the best seats for each of the three cabins on-board:

- Where to Sit When Flying Singapore Airlines’ A350: Premium Economy
- Where to Sit When Flying Singapore Airlines’ A350: Business Class
Houston and Manchester will join Singapore Airlines’ seven other A350 destinations, ranging from Cape Town to Moscow and Amsterdam to San Francisco. Speaking of San Francisco (SFO), TPG’s own Kaeli Conforti was on Singapore Airlines’ first A350 flight from SFO to SIN. Here’s her detailed review of the business class experience.
