Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
We've seen plenty of low fares on Emirates' fifth-freedom route between New York (JFK) and Milan (MXP), but this one may be the best we've seen: $790 round-trip for two passengers. As long as you can find a companion, you'll each pay just $395 per person. While these fares would seem to be part of Emirates' Black Friday sale, the listed Black Friday price between NYC-Milan is $899 for two, so jump on this deal while it's $100 cheaper!
Emirates' Black Friday sale notes: "Book your Black Friday companion fare by November 27, 2016 for travel between January 09, 2017 and October 14, 2017." However, we're only finding this JFK — MXP deal for departures from January 15 through May 10 and then again from September 4 through October 11.
