This week's Thursday Giveaway is a chance to win 67,500 American Airlines miles.

Last Thursday, TPG Editor-in-Chief Zach Honig was invited to fly on the inaugural A350 flight from the US, which was operated by Qatar Airways from New York to Doha, Qatar (you might've even seen the aborted takeoff). As per TPG policy, we do not accept free flights, but to take advantage of this opportunity — which wasn't available to book with money or miles — we are giving away the number of miles required for an identical redemption.

Purchased as part of AA's buy miles promo, which has been extended through January 4, 2016, these miles have a retail value of $1,327.50 (before taxes). You'll receive a total of 67,500 AAdvantage miles — the amount required for a business-class Qatar flight between New York and Doha — at least before the upcoming AA devaluation. Be aware that because this giveaway's value exceeds $600, the winner will be responsible for taxes on the prize and will be issued a 1099 form.

If you don't want to redeem for a trip to the Middle East, 67,500 miles is enough for other great redemptions, such as a round-trip ticket to Europe in economy, a one-way ticket in first class to Asia, as well as this A350 Qatar flight, which will begin operating daily in 2016.

You can redeem AA miles for flights in Cathay Pacific first class.

Even if you don't win the giveaway, you can earn plenty of miles with a credit card, such as the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard, which is currently offering a bonus of 60,000 miles after you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months. The information for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

TPG values American miles at 1.7 cents apiece, so there's plenty of value to get from the points you'll earn from cards or this giveaway. And of course, with a specific redemption in mind, such as Cathay Pacific's first-class tickets, you can get significantly more value out of your points and miles.

You must enter the giveaway below no later than 11:59pm ET on Monday, December 21.

Last week's winners: Last week, we gave away a free stay with Marriott and tickets to the TPG Reader in event in Kansas City. Congratulations again to Ciputra J., who won the hotel stay by visiting our Facebook page. Winners of the tickets from last week's giveaway were notified via email. Stay tuned for more great giveaways on the blog, as well as on TPG's Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Good luck with this week's giveaway!

How we chose these cards

Our points-obsessed staff uses a plethora of credit cards on a daily basis. If anyone on our team wouldn’t recommend it to a friend or a family member, we wouldn’t recommend it on The Points Guy either. Our opinions are our own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by our advertising partners.
