The JetBlue cards from Barclaycard are now available. Earn 30,000 points after $1,000 spent in the first 90 days with the JetBlue Plus Card ($99 annual fee) or 10,000 points after $1,000 spent on purchases in the fist 90 days with the JetBlue Card ($0 annual fee). Get more information here.
JetBlue’s Mosaic level is hardly the most rewarding elite status program, but it does come along with some pretty decent benefits, especially considering that it’s relatively easy to achieve. And according to Wandering Aramean, the airline is adding an elite perk that you may find particularly exciting, especially on longer flights.
Beginning next year, Mosaic members will receive free alcoholic beverages on JetBlue flights — officially, the program will kick off sometime in 2016, though there are reports of flight attendants offering free drinks to Mosaics now. We’ve heard the same from airline insiders, though a timeline wasn’t provided. JetBlue offered drinks to elites during the summer of 2014, but it’s nice to see that free booze is now here to stay. Some legacy carriers offer free drinks to elites as well, though typically not at lower status tiers.
Mosaic status requires either 30 segments plus 12,000 flight points or 15,000 flight points (and any number of segments), both earned within the same calendar year. JetBlue awards three base flight points per dollar spent (taxes and fees excluded), so it’s possible to get Mosaic after 30 flights and $4,000 spent on base fares (or sooner if you participate in a status challenge).
TPG is a huge fan of JetBlue — particularly the airline’s Mint business-class product, which is available on transcon flights and select flights to the Caribbean. Of course, if you’re flying Mint, you’ll already receive free drinks, but if you’re stuck in coach, this Mosaic perk is kind of a big deal.
