IHG Rewards Club and Mastercard are launching a new promotion this week called “Priceless Surprises,” which gives you a prezzie every time you stay and pay with Mastercard. It’s a new partnership that’s part of MasterCard’s ongoing Priceless Surprises promotion. They’re not literally priceless, but they are a surprise, and some of them are worth big bucks.
Starting this week, US members over age 21 with an active MasterCard that was opened before November 15, 2015 can register for the promotion at ihg.com/surprises. Once that’s all set up, you then need to use that MasterCard to book and stay at any IHG hotel in the world between November 15, 2015 and February 15, 2016 – no exclusions! You can use any Mastercard, including the Citi Prestige.
The first time you stay at an IHG property under this promotion, you’ll get 1,000 IHG Rewards Club bonus points awarded to your account. TPG values IHG at 0.7 cents per point, so that’s $7 right out of the gate – which isn’t a fortune, but it could go toward staying at an IHG hotel this Christmas instead of sleeping on that awful sofa bed at your parents’ house.
Then, for the rest of the promotion, every time you stay at an IHG property and pay with MasterCard (check-in by February 15, 2016, check-out by February 29, 2016), you will receive an IHG “Priceless Surprise.” There’s no word on how the surprises are awarded, but here is a sample:
- Trips to New York City, Orlando or Paris
- One million IHG Rewards Club Points
- $50 prepaid MasterCard gift card
- A free night at any IHG hotel in the world
As you can see, they range from Showcase Showdown to lovely parting gifts. But if you’re going to stay at IHG (and pay with MasterCard) anyway, why not spin the wheel and get a prize?
