Hyatt Visa cardholders are being offered a limited-time benefit of 20% points refunds on award stays now through July 31, 2015.
Here are the details:
Register here by March 31, 2015 with your Hyatt Gold Passport number.
Book a stay with points and complete your stay before July 31, 2015.
Get 20% of your points back. They will be redeposited directly into your account 4-6 weeks after your stay.
This promo is just for Hyatt credit cardholders who received the offer directly from Hyatt. However, the good news for them is that the 20% refund is good not just on straight-up award stays, but also points + cash awards, suite upgrades and dining and spa redemptions.
As a reminder, here are the award levels for Hyatt’s 7 hotel categories:
That means top-tier properties like the new Park Hyatt New York and the Park Hyatt Sydney will cost you just 24,000 points per award night rather than the 30,000. On the other end of the spectrum, a category 1 award night that usually costs 5,000 points will be just 4,000, so there are some real savings to be had here.
The other thing to point out is that you don’t get an automatic discount on point redemptions you book with this promo, so you have to have all the points in your account to book the stay you want at the normal levels and then you will get refunded after that fact. So while this promo is targeted to Hyatt Visa cardholders, if you need to top up your account, you can do so using Ultimate Rewards points transferred at a 1:1 ratio if you have either the Sapphire Preferred or Ink Plus from Chase
As a reminder, Hyatt also changed its Diamond elite benefits recently to include extending your benefits to a friend or family member when you use your own points to book their award stay, receiving two complimentary United Club passes, and free premium WiFi access during stays.
Here are the rest of the 20% refund terms and conditions:
