IHG Rewards Drops Redemption Rates For 100 Hotels: More than 100 IHG hotels will require 5,000 less IHG Rewards Club points for an award night. Even more good news is that IHG will not be making any increases to their reward night pricing during 2014. The changes go into effect April 15, 2014. Some of the properties affected are:

  • InterContinental Hotel Shanghai-Puxi, China : 35,000 to 30,000 IHG Rewards Club points
  • Crowne Plaza Geneva, Switzerland: 35,000 to 30,000 IHG Rewards Club points
  • Hotel Indigo Fort Myers Downtown River District, Florida, US: 30,000 to 25,000 IHG Rewards Club points
  • Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort, Phuket, Thailand: 20,000 to 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points
  • Holiday Inn Ciudad De Mexico- Trade Center, Mexico: 15,000 to 10,000 IHG Rewards Club points
  • Holiday Inn Express Frankfurt-Messe, Germany:  25,000 to 20,000 IHG Rewards Club points

Choice Privileges United Airlines Offers Triple Miles Promotion: Choice Privileges and United Airlines have a promotion for United MileagePlus members to earn triple miles (250 base + 500 bonus) between April 5 and May 31, 2014 for qualifying stays at participating Choice Hotels. This offer is valid on Choice hotels in the U.S., Canada, Europe (excluding Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden), Middle East, Mexico, Central America, Australasia (including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Fiji) and the Caribbean.

New Details On the American Airlines 777-200 Retrofitted Interiors: American unveiled its new 777-200 retrofit this week and the business class cabin features the airline’s new seats that are are fully adjustable and convert to 6 foot 4.5 inch fully lie-flat beds. Business class passengers will also have access to a walk up bar, an amenity kits filled with Akhassa products, Bose headphones, universal 110v AC power outlets and USB ports at every seat and more. There will be 45 Main Cabin Extra Seats with 6 inches more legroom. All seats will include access to international Wi-Fi and extended personal in-seat entertainment with more than 200 movies, 180 TV shows and a large collection of games and audio programs. The economy class will also be outfitted with universal 110v AC power outlets and USB ports at every seat.

Accor Hotels Offers 500 Bonus Points: You can get 500 bonus points on your next stay with Le Club Accorhotels within three months of signing up. (The offer is valid on stays until December 31, 2014, so wait to register  for the offer if you don’t expect to stay within three months.) The offer is aimed at those who have been members for about a year, however others have had luck signing up. Bonus points should post in your account 10 days after your stay is completed.

Rocketmiles Offers 3,000-Mile Bonus On Hotel Booking: If you book and stay in a hotel through Rocketmiles and checkout before April 30, 2014, you can earn 3000 bonus miles and bank them to the airline of your choice, such as American, Alaska, United and more. This is valid for first time customers only.

Alaska Airlines Raises The Cost Of  Fly & Buy Miles And Changes Terms: Alaska offers an option where you can purchase either 2,500, 5,000, or 10,000 miles at the time you ticket a reservation. The cost to purchase 10,000 miles was $190 plus tax, and now they’ve just raised the cost of the 10,000-mile option to $200 plus tax. Before, you could also cancel the ticket later but keep the miles without penalty, but now they have added this note into their terms and conditions: Fly & Buy Miles purchased with a ticket that is later refunded will be subject to additional fees at the standard rate of 2.75 cents per mile plus applicable taxes, bringing the price of miles up to 2.75 cents each – not nearly as good value.

Gogo Announces Faster Internet With 2Ku Technology: With new a technology using 2Ku using  two low-profile, high efficiency Ku-band satellite antennas, Gogo will soon be able to offer faster WiFi at a speed of more than 70 Mbps. Japan Airlines will be the first airline to try this, and Gogo says it should be available to the commercial aviation market by mid-2015.

Contact Hilton For Diamond Fast Track Offer: If you didn’t requalify for the same Hilton HHonors status you had 2013 and had your status downgraded for the 2014 membership year, you still have options. If you are a few days short of qualification status, you can try writing an email for a fast track offer. Hilton offered this plan via email to a member: “If from today’s date until 30 June 2014, you record 10 eligible stays or 16 eligible nights at any participating HHonors hotel, your account will be automatically upgraded to the Diamond tier status.” If you were also close to qualifying for Diamond tier status, try emailing Hilton at hhonors@hilton.com and they may give you access to this offer as well.
