Delta SkyClub Policy Change For Alaska Board Room Members: Alaska's Board Room member page announced that, effective May 1, 2014, Delta SkyClubs will no longer offer guest privileges to Board Room members. Instead, Board Room members may now purchase discounted $29 day passes for up to two guests at any Delta operated SkyClub locations.

Lufthansa Adds Economy Seat Assignment Fee For Long-Haul Flights: Effective April 28, 2014, Lufthansa will add fees to pre-assign seats in Economy class in fare classes W, S, T, L, K on long-haul flights. This fee will be €25 ($34.50 US) per seat. Passengers may still choose a seat in Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class at no extra charge when checking in, up to 23 hours before departure.

American Bonus Miles Between the US and Tokyo: American is presently running two promotions offering bonus miles for travel to Japan on flights operated by both American and Japan Airlines. American is offering double redeemable AAdvantage miles for non-stop travel on Japan Airlines, marketed by either JAL or American. Use promo code NYJP2 when booking a variety of business and economy fare classes (see terms for specifics) for non-stop flights between JFK and Tokyo Narita (NRT), taken between now and May 2, 2014 or May 6-31, 2014. Use promo code TYS14 when booking a variety of first, business and economy fare classes for non-stop flights between ORD or LAX and NRT, taken between now and May 31, 2014.


United Airlines Mexico City 20% Saver Award Discount Promo for May 2014: United is offering a 20% discount off its usual MileagePlus Saver Award fares for non-stop flights between Canada or the U.S. (excluding Hawaii & Guam) and Mexico City. Eligible flights need to be ticketed between now and April 29, 2014, and travel must take place between May 1-31, 2014.


Iberia Plus Promo - Double Avios for Flights Booked and Flown in April 2014: Iberia Plus has a new double Avios offer for tickets purchased between now and April 21, 2014 and flights flown between now and April 30, 2014. This offer is valid for flights on Iberia, Iberia Express, Iberia Regional Air Nostrum and Puente Aéreo.


Hilton HHonors/Cathay Pacific Promo for Up to Triple Asia Miles: Hilton HHonors is offering Cathay Pacific Asia Miles members the opportunity to earn double miles for stays worldwide and triple miles for stays at participating properties in the Asia Pacific between April 15 and July 15, 2014. Details of the offer and a full list of hotels are found here. Note that in order to access this offer, you must set your Hilton HHonors Double Dip option to Points + Miles and choose Cathay Pacific as the partner airline.


12,000 Free MeliáRewards for New Accounts: MeliáRewards is offering up to 12,000 points to those who sign up for new rewards accounts and book a stay - enough for a free night at a handful of their properties around the world. Sign up for MeliáRewards and get 2,000 points as a welcome gift, then you'll receive 10,000 bonus points to use by April 30, 2014.


Chicago Seminars 2014 Registration Open: Registration is now open and tickets are on sale for the 2014 Chicago Seminars, which I co-host with Frugal Travel Guy's Rick Ingersoll. Get 500 Free Virgin Atlantic Miles: You can get 500 free Virgin Atlantic Miles when you download the airline's ShopAway Mile Finder shopping portal toolbar (scroll to the bottom of the page) by May 14, 2014. This toolbar alerts you when you visit an online store/website that offers bonus miles. Note that it can take up to 48 hours for these 500 points to post to your VA account, and the miles could be revoked if you choose to uninstall the toolbar.

1,000 Bonus Miles from Rocketmiles for Stays in the Caribbean: Rocketmiles is a hotel booking service where you can earn bonus miles with the site’s 11 airline partners instead of hotel points. To be eligible for this particular promo, the Caribbean premium hotel reservation (limit one per customer) must be booked by April 21, 2014 using this link. Your stay must be at a property within the limits of the Caribbean as defined by Rocketmiles, and completed by October 16, 2014.


Rocketmiles Introduces Southwest as new Airline Partner and Offers 3,000 Bonus Miles for New Customers: Yesterday, Rocketmiles announced that it will now allow its customers to earn Southwest Rapid Rewards when booking hotels through the Rocketmiles portal. As a promotional incentive, new customers will now earn a bonus 3,000 Rapid Rewards points in addition to the usual 1,000-5,000 points/miles Rocketmiles users earn when booking hotel rooms. To be eligible, the hotel reservation must be booked using this promo link by 11:59PM CT on May 31, 2014, and check-out must occur by December 31, 2014.
