Thursday Giveaway: 25,000 Skywards Miles And The Winner of a Neiman Marcus Gift Card
Prior to take off on Emirates' A380 on Monday, I posted a picture of myself enjoying a glass of Dom Pérignon in my First Class suite announcing that I would be giving away Emirates Skywards miles while in flight.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get linked up to the wireless internet once we were airborne, so instead I will be awarding one lucky winner with 25,000 Skywards miles as this week's Thursday Giveaway.
Emirates has a really expansive international route map, so I want to hear which city you would want to visit most whether it be the Maldives, Milan or even a far flung place like Erbil in Iraq. To be in the running for these miles all you have to do is follow me on Twitter and tweet me @thepointsguy using the hashtags #AmexEmirates and #Membership Rewards telling me your Emirate's destination of choice.
You have until 5pm ET on Sunday, November 24th, to do so and then we’ll choose a winner at random and announce it on Monday.
Stay tuned for my full review of the flight!
The Winner Of Last Week’s Thursday Giveaway – $200 Neiman Marcus Gift Card
Last week's giveaway was inspired by the limited-time bonus on the AAdvantage eShopping portal of 18 miles per dollar spent online at Neiman Marcus. Though this bonus was only available for four short days and was not quite as lucrative as the 35x bonus from eBags, it was still a good deal allowing you to buy miles at 5.6 cents apiece.
To be in the running for a $200 gift card from Neiman Marcus, all you had to do was comment on the Giveaway post telling us about your best miles/points haul from a shopping portal bonus.
Here is our winner, who was chosen at random:
Dr. JLo - "Bought my mom a double oven with my credit card and she turned around and paid us back. Sears had 9 miles/$ so I got 19,794 miles on AAdvantage eShopping plus the 1,650 miles through my Citi AA card, all without spending a dime of my personal money! Makes me want to see who else will let me use my CC to buy miles."
Putting a trustworthy friend or family member's large expense on your credit card can be a great way to help meet a minimum spend or maximize your earnings. What makes Dr. JLo's 9 mile/$1 portal bonus even better was that he was able to double dip and earn a few more miles just from using his Citi AAdvantage card to earn more than enough miles to book one of the Citi AAdvantage cardholder benefit reduced mileage awards - so he minted enough points with one purchase to book an airline ticket.
Thank you to all who entered and congratulations to our winner - good luck entering this week’s contest!
