Thursday Giveaway: Share Your Travel Inspiration For A Chance to Win 50,000 Hyatt Gold Passport Points!
In the miles and points world it can be easy to get caught up in elite status, first class cabins and the rush of "free" travel. However, travel is about more than just "beating the system" and watching your point wealth grow. We all have our own motivators for why we travel - whether it is to see family, friends, try new food or to simply get away from the daily grind. For me, it is all of those things and more and for this week's giveaway I'd like to ask all of you: What is your travel inspiration?
Hyatt has graciously given the site a boatload of valuable Gold Passport points to giveaway as we choose, so the team here is going to split up the bounty over two weeks. This week's prize will be 50,000 Gold Passport points - more than enough for two nights at top Hyatt properties around the world (they're only 22,000 points a night for a standard room) or 10 nights at a category 1 property! The 50,000 point bounty wasn't pulled out of thin air, though. It is the amount of points you can earn with Hyatt's newest promotion, "Discover New Possibilities," where from September 9 - November 30, 2013 you can earn up to 50,000 bonus points as follows:

My Giveaway
Travel is about so many things and I think Hyatt's "Discover New Possibilities" campaign accurately sums it up - travel is amazing, but being able to leverage miles and points allows us to experience things that we might not normally be able to. But whether you're earning points or redeeming them, I'm curious what inspires you to travel? Is it visiting loved ones? Trekking to untouched parts of the globe? Learning more about a different culture? Trying new foods? Exploring new museums? Or simply fulfilling your inner nomadic soul?
To Enter
Make a 15-second video on your travel inspirations. It can be a collage of pictures or simply you talking to the camera. You don't necessarily need to be in the video, but it should succinctly encapsulate what gets you excited to travel. The TPG editorial team will vote and select a winner that inspires us the most and depending on the entry, we may even throw in some runner up prizes for other entries. As always, we want to have fun with this and hope you do too!
Submit by 5:00pm Eastern Time on Tuesday September 10, 2013. One entry per person. The winner will be announced on Thursday, September 12, when we announce the next (even bigger!) Hyatt point giveaway.
There are two entry methods, but you can only submit one video.
1) Instagram: Upload the video to your free Instagram account, follow ThePointsGuy and hastag your video #TPGTravelInspiration. Instagram makes it super easy to record video right from your smartphone and even include multiple mini-segments (which I now do when I board an aircraft!). Check out this page for InstaVideo FAQ. Make sure you follow me on Instagram @thepointsguy, because if your account is private I won't be able to view the video.
2) I understand not everyone has Instagram so you can record your own and upload it to sites like YouTube or Vine and include the link in the comments of this post. The preferred method would be to upload for free to YouTube and include a link, but I'll watch any video that plays properly. If you upload in a version that I can't watch on my MacBook Pro I won't be able to consider your entry (that is why YouTube is the best format).
