For those thinking about some fall travel plans, Delta is having a sale on travel to the Latin America and the Caribbean. This applies to both paid tickets as well as award redemptions. This is valid for travel from September 3 – December 13, 2013 for economy tickets only. Delta SkyMiles can be tricky to use and aren't the most valuable currency, but if you can find a good redemption, they can come in handy. Bookings must be made by today, June 24, 2013.

Delta is offering some reduced price awards.

Below are some sample fares and award prices for Delta's sale. While the paid fares are decent, some of the SkyMiles redemptions appear to be a better deal.

Here are some examples of some awards I was able to find:

Atlanta
Atlanta- Santiago, Chile for 50,000 SkyMiles round-trip (Normally 60,000 SkyMiles).
New York-Santo Domingo for 30,000 miles round-trip. (Normally 35,000)

I would book now especially if you are a Platinum or Diamond Medallion, since Delta does allow changes and cancellations up to 3 days prior to travel with no fee.

How we chose these cards

Our points-obsessed staff uses a plethora of credit cards on a daily basis. If anyone on our team wouldn’t recommend it to a friend or a family member, we wouldn’t recommend it on The Points Guy either. Our opinions are our own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by our advertising partners.
