Update: The public offer for the Chairman’s Preferred US Airways Dividend Miles Premier World Mastercard has expired, but you still might be able to apply for it – check out this post for more information on it as well as a version of the card that comes with 35,000 bonus miles and the first year’s annual fee waived. The current offer is 30,000 bonus miles with first purchase and up to 10,000 bonus miles for a balance transfer within 90 days and an annual fee of $89 that is not waived.

I’ve gotten a lot of emails and comments about the US Airways Dividend Miles Premier World Mastercard lately, which is the best US Airways Mastercard offer out there.

As a reminder, here are the key details:

  • Earn up to 60,000 bonus miles – 40,000 after first purchase, 10,000 after first year and 10,000 each subsequent account anniversary, and 10,000 miles when making a balance transfer within 90 days of account opening (you earn 1 mile per $1 transferred).
  • Earn up to 10,000 miles toward Preferred status when spending $25,000 within a calendar year
  • Exclusive: Redeem flights for 5,000 fewer miles.
  • Enjoy 2 miles per $1 on US Airways purchases, earn 1 mile per $1 spent everywhere else.
  • Two roundtrip companion tickets each year
  • Preferred check in, Zone 2 priority boarding on every flight.
  • One complimentary US Airways Club day pass every year.
  • Discount on US Airways Club membership
  • $89 annual fee waived the first year.

US Airways Chairmans MC

One of the main points of concern most people seem to have is that the offer states it is exclusively for Chairman’s Preferred elite members only, but there are reports all over the internet that people without US Airways Preferred status have been able to get the offer, so it could be worth a shot.

As far as Barclay’s credit cards go, this is a pretty solid deal, and it could be a great option for those of you who have maxed out your Amex, Chase and Citi applications for the moment. Plus, it’s a lot better than my own affiliate link offer for the card, which is just 30,000 bonus miles with first purchase and a potential of 10,000 more miles with a balance transfer, though I wouldn’t recommend doing that since balance transfers often carry fees.

The reason you might want to get this card now is that our sources tell us that a merger between American Airlines and US Airways might be announced as early as Monday, so this could be a good chance to get in on a bundle of US Airways Dividend Miles in the hopes that you’ll be able to combine them with your AAdvantage account once the two airlines and their frequent flyer programs eventually merge – though that’s probably a ways in the future.

While I don’t think the links or this offer will change anytime soon, and probably well after any merger would take place, this card and future US Airways credit card products might be taken over by Citi after the merger, so whether you’re thinking of getting in on this now or in the near future you might want to put this offer on your radar and keep an eye on it.

If you’ve gotten this card and the full bonus offer, please comment on this post with your experience and whether you were able to get it without being a Chairman’s Preferred member.

Everyone have a great weekend – keep warm and dry if you’re in the Northeast – and stay tuned for more developments in the US Airways/American merger.
