Here’s a recap of the interesting points and miles news from this week:

1,000 Hyatt Points for Avis Rentals: Earn 1,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points using coupon code MUHA067 on qualifying rentals of at least 2 days now through December 31, 2013. Reservations must be made at participating Avis locations in the U.S, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. You must also provide your Hyatt Gold Passport number at the time of reservation or rental. This offer may not be used with any other coupon, promotion or offer except your AWD discount. Use AWD # K817700 or try other codes like corporate, AAA, and Costco to try to find better rates. So if you've got any last-minute car rentals before the end of the year, you can score some hotel bonus points in the bargain.

Marriott Megabonus Returns in February: Marriott will be relaunching their Megabonus promotion in February where you earn one free night at any Category 1-4 property up to a maximum of three free nights per two paid stays at participating properties between February 1 - April 30, 2013. Registration is required by March 15, so don't forget to do that, and the free nights are good for one year from date of issue.

Extra Savings with Jetsetter Gift Cards: Jetsetter is offering a flash sale on their gift cards which can then be used to purchase anything on the Jetsetter site. They are currently offering a $250 gift card for $225 (10% off), a $500 gift card for $425 (15% off), a$1,000 gift card for $800 (20% off). When the sale launched they also had $2,000 and $5,000 gift cards which were being sold for as much as 30% off, but those both are sold out now. While you can purchase these gift cards for yourself, you can also give them as a gift for friends or family, which will allow that person to book their next getaway. Jetsetter offers some already discounted deals on luxury accommodations all over the world, and often features some swanky hotels that you've probably read about in the glossy magazines, so gift cards can save you even more money if you decide to purchase them and find a great deal on there. This sale ends December 25th, but some of the gift cards are already getting sold out, so if you are interested, buy sooner than later. (Hat Tip - Deals We Like)

Marriott Keeping Rollover Nights Permanently: Marriott Rewards has been offering rollover elite nights on a year by year basis for the last few years, but now has officially made it a permanent benefit. Rollover nights expire after one calendar year and they are calculated based on the number of nights a member has earned in excess of the nights required to renew at their current level or to achieve a higher level. Once a member has met the number of nights to retain their current level, any additional nights will be rolled over to the next year. If the member achieves their current or higher status, the additional nights beyond the newly achieved threshold will be rolled over. However, if a member reverts to a lower status, there would be no rollover nights. Overall, its nice to see them keep this permanently and it would be interesting to see if other hotels like Starwood decide to offer this benefit.
