Hilton and Visa are teaming up to encourage more HHonors members to sign up for their text notifications by giving away 1,000 free points for signing up for this promotion:

You can use any Visa card to enroll in this promotion- it does not need to be the Hilton Visa. I signed up with my Sapphire Preferred Signature Visa card and received a text shortly after registering with my confirmation code. I needed that to finalize my registration so I wouldn't recommend using a fake phone number. Per the rules you can opt out at any time and still keep the points. I understand the last thing most people want is to receive junk texts, but I'm going to give them a chance to impress me with exclusive offers (which I'll obviously report here).

My confirmation text states the 1,000 free points will post within 6 weeks. This is a great way to keep your Hilton account active and hey- free points are free points!

To opt out at any point just send a text message with the word "STOP" to 43471 or reply to any of their texts with the word "STOP".
