In an attempt to keep Platinum members who have already hit their requalification for 2011, Starwood is offering an extra point per dollar spent for all stays October 1- Dec 31 (link here). So once you hit 25 stays/50 nights, you will earn 4 Starpoints per dollar, in addition to any Starwood Amex bonus points or the Double/Triple promo.

I think this is a great way to entice members to stay loyal, even after they've made their elite status since many business travelers try to get elite status with other brands after they qualify for their primary. Last year they did rollover, so any stays past the qualifier counted towards the next year. I'd personally prefer rollover, but I won't complain with another point promotion.

Hoping Hyatt and the others do something as well. The more competition, the better!

How we chose these cards

Our points-obsessed staff uses a plethora of credit cards on a daily basis. If anyone on our team wouldn’t recommend it to a friend or a family member, we wouldn’t recommend it on The Points Guy either. Our opinions are our own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by our advertising partners.
