Starwood Promo Update: Lots of Properties NOT Participating

As mentioned in my post earlier today, about 15% of Starwood properties are not participating in their double/triple miles promotion. This is the first time I've seen a Starwood promotion with such a substantial list of hotels opting out.

This is not a good sign of things to come with Starwood, who in my opinion, has really been watering down their promotions this year. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I don't like it. Even in really good days, Starwood used to have rock-star promotions, so I'm disappointed things are getting so boring.

On the flip side, Hyatt has been running really strong promotions this year and I've heard from a couple sources they may run another round of Faster Free Nights, which means you get a free stay for every two paid stays. This is my favorite hotel promotion and allowed me to stay at the Park Hyatt Vendome- Paris for free this July (see my report here). If Hyatt does another FFN round, I'll be officially sold on the brand and shift 100% of my stays (where possible).
