Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
Don’t think $100 is enough to book an awesome trip? Think again. American Airlines is currently offering sub-$100 fares for flights between New York (LGA) and Chicago (ORD) both ways, valid for departures this December. While this deal does exclude Christmas itself, it’s a great opportunity to get away and see either one of these great cities for the incredibly low price of just $86 round-trip. This is an even better deal if you have the Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card — you can book the trip for you and a companion for just $72 total, or $36 per person! If you’re interested, make sure to act fast — these fares won’t be around for long.
