Hurricane Matthew has been wreaking havoc along the Eastern Seaboard of the US — high winds and torrential rainfall have caused millions to evacuate their homes to stay safe. United Airlines has stepped up to assist in the relief effort by matching donations to organizations such as the American Red Cross, Americares, Airlink and OperationUSA, up to $100,000. The airline will also award MileagePlus members with bonus miles through October 31 when they contribute through United’s fundraising page. Donations of $50-$99 will earn 250 bonus miles, $100-$249 will earn 500 and $250 or more will earn 1,000.

American Airlines is also offering bonus miles to those who donate to the American Red Cross. You’ll earn 250 bonus AAdvantage miles if you donate between $50 and $100, and 500 AAdvantage miles for donations over $100, through October 31. Delta has a website through which people can donate, but isn’t matching donations nor offering bonus miles to those who make contributions to the recovery effort.
