Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to travel. Additionally, keep in mind that discounted partner fares may not earn miles with US-based carriers.
A few days ago we shared a fantastic deal from Delta, which was offering one-stop flights from East Coast cities to Peru from $396 round-trip. Unfortunately that fare is no longer available, but if you’re based on the West Coast, instead, today’s deal is even more attractive.
Delta is currently offering round-trip economy fares from LAX to Lima, Peru for just $289 round-trip, including taxes. You’ll need to connect in Atlanta in each direction, which means you’ll be flying a bit out of the way, but if you’re looking to rack up some elite-qualifying miles, this is a great opportunity to do just that. This fare is available for departures between January and April 2016. From Lima, you can take a 1-hour flight to Cusco (round-trip fares start at $89), which is the gateway to Machu Picchu.
