Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to travel. Additionally, keep in mind that discounted partner fares may not earn miles with US-based carriers.

Emirates is back with more great flight deals. This week, the airline has deep-discounted flights from the US to Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB). Reduced fares are available from a few cities that the carrier services in the US, including Dallas (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK) — and this time, you can book individual tickets, rather than the pair usually required for deals on the airline. As usual with Emirates service, also expect a quick layover in Dubai en route to your final destination.

The cheapest flights seem to be from New York or Dallas with fares starting around $685 round-trip. Note that to get the lowest rate, you need to use the promo code USJET16. This also means that you must book the flight through Emirates website so that you can input the code. Flight from the West Coast are a bit more expensive around $780 (the code can also be applied to these flights). Lastly, don’t forget that you may be able to earn miles for a number of different membership programs, such as Alaska, JetBlue or Virgin America, when flying on Emirates.
