The new Amex Centurion Studio Lounge is officially open for business at SeaTac International Airport as of this morning. This is the sixth US lounge in the Centurion network, joining others in Las Vegas (LAS), Dallas (DFW), New York (LGA), San Francisco (SFO) and Miami (MIA). It’ll be open for business every day from 5am to 10pm.

Centurion Lounges offer amenities including fresh (and appetizing food), complimentary cocktails and other beverages, computers and Wi-Fi, shower suites, conference spaces and, most importantly, a luxurious and fairly private place to relax during a layover or flight delay. Some of the lounges offer more unique amenities like the Exhale Spa in Dallas or the wine machine in San Francisco.

The Seattle lounge is a Centurion Studio, which (as Amex puts it) is an extension of the Centurion network in a smaller setting. The amenities aren’t quite as extensive as those in the other lounges, but are of equal quality, including a number of Seattle-inspired light bites and local artisanal beverages.

Seattle’s Amex Centurion Studio opens today.

I’m a big fan of the Centurion Lounges, and it’s good to see Amex continuing to add more. Access is complimentary if you have the Centurion Card, The Platinum Card from American Express or The Enhanced Business Platinum Card from American Express OPEN, all of which allow entry to immediate family or up to one guest (two guests at the larger Centurion Lounges). Because of the lounge’s small size, while Amex cardholders can normally purchase one-day passes for $50, you need to have a Centurion or Platinum card to access the Seattle Studio.

The Seattle lounge is located after security in Terminal B, just across from gate B3 (next to Sbarro). The entrance is clearly marked both on the outer walls and by an overhead sign:

The Centurion Studio has several seating options, despite its small size.

It’s a pretty convenient location, since it’s just a minute or two beyond security, and close to the airport’s central hub. Terminals A, B, C and D are connected, so you can access the lounge on foot. You’ll have to board a tram to get there from Terminals S and N.

We’ll have a more thorough review later this week, but for now, if you’re an Amex cardholder traveling to, from or through SeaTac, stop in to check it out and let us know what you think!
