Starting today, April 7, 2015, tickets for this year’s lineup of SPG’s exclusive Hear the Music, See the World series will be available for Starpoints redemptions on the SPG Moments site. Including SPG Luxury Suite access at major concert venues, priority access to popular music festivals, and intimate concerts by major artists held at Starwood properties around the world, this series provides once-in-a-lifetime experiences for music fans, as well as valuable redemptions of Starpoints for SPG members.
To celebrate this new series, SPG is offering a special sweepstakes: Today through May 22, 2015, any SPG member who registers for the sweepstakes and books a two-night stay at any Starwood property through the SPG app will be entered to win one of three very cool prizes.
Presented in partnership with SPG, live-music consulting agency Trevanna Entertainment, and events-presenter AEG, the 2015 lineup of the Hear the Music, See the World series’ includes:
Five different live, in-hotel performances at Starwood properties around the world:
Nate Ruess —Aloft/Element Miami Doral (June 26)
Zhang Zhen Yue—W Beijing (July 4)
Jamie Cullum—The St. Regis Mexico City (October 8)
Bastille—Westin Palace Madrid (October 30)
John Legend—Sheraton LA Downtown (November 5)
Concert tickets and access to SPG Luxury Suites in AEG-affiliated venues such as New York’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center, Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, and London’s The O2;
And priority access to popular and/or already-sold-out music festivals, such as Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and Barclaycard Presents British Summertime Hyde Park. SPG’s priority festival access includes VIP or General Admission passes, behind the scenes tours, the best views of venue stages, access to hospitality and AMEX lounges, catered dinners, and more.
To celebrate the launch of the 2015 Hear the Music, See the World series, SPG is offering a sweepstakes for a shot at one of three main prizes:
*An all-expense paid trip for two (including airfare and hotel) to one of the five in-hotel concerts listed above (value of $5,000)
*An SPG Luxury Suite takeover for you and up to 11 guests (including food and beverages) at a choice of four concerts/venues (value of $3,000)
*50,000 Starpoints towards your next SPG Moments experience (value of $1,250)
To earn additional entries: on your Twitter or Instagram account, share a photo from either your favorite SPG Moments experience or Starwood hotel stay, and use the hashtag #spglife in your post.
If you’re a U.S.-based SPG member, you can also enter to also win a $50 Amazon Gift Card each time you use the SPG app between April 7-17, 2015 to book a Starwood stay.
SPG Moments’ concerts and music events tend to hover in the 15,000-35,000 range, so the 50,000 Starpoints you could win through this sweepstakes could snag you a really special experience. (At present, I value Starpoints at 2.4 cents per point.)
In general, I’ve found that SPG Moments offer exciting experiences and pretty good seats—especially Madison Square Garden events like the Knicks game I treated my dad to for his birthday (my favorite use of points so far!) and the Westminster Dog Show (see photo above), where I redeemed 15,000 Starpoints for two luxury box seats and access to an open bar, and had a howling good time.
Overall, I like how SPG is coming out with new, truly valuable ways to redeem points instead of just increasing hotel redemption rates like so many other hotel brands. (I’m looking at you, Hilton and Marriott.)

How to Redeem Points for Adventures, Events and Experiences There’s no telling how much longer these cards will be around and available for new applications because of the Marriott takeover, so now might just be the perfect time to apply. Apart from hotel redemptions, you can transfer Starpoints to over 30 airline partners, and now also transfer points from Starwood to Marriott Rewards at a 1:3 ratio, opening up even more redemption options.
