I’ve written about the various benefits of FoundersCard before, but now there’s an exclusive offer for TPG readers that beats anything you’ll find publicly available elsewhere. TPG Contributor Leigh Rowan has the full details.
I’ve been a long-time FoundersCard member (in fact, I turned TPG onto the card in 2011), and I’ve found my membership to be pretty valuable. Highlights include fast tracks to elite status, airline and hotel discounts, as well as savings on products like Apple, UPS, and others. For more on what the card offers, check out my detailed review from earlier this year.
The standard public offer for FoundersCard is $795 per year plus a $95 initiation fee. However, for a limited time, TPG readers can sign up using the promotional code FCPOINTSVIP to receive a discounted FoundersCard membership for only $395/annually, and to waive the $95 initiation fee. That discounted $395 annual fee will persist beyond the first year, and will remain as long as you maintain your membership.
FoundersCard offers a wide array of benefits, including airline and hotel discounts and elite status challenges/matches. For today, I thought I’d just highlight some of the benefits that I use most.
FoundersCard offers a fast track to status with a number of airlines — like status challenges to American Airlines Platinum and JetBlue Mosaic — as well as flat out status upgrades to Cathay Pacific Silver and more. The American Airlines status challenge is more lucrative than normal, as members who apply for the Platinum challenge (and are enrolled in AA’s free BusinessExtra program) receive AAdvantage Platinum status during the challenge period. In order to participate in this challenge, you must sign up by May 3rd.
You’ll then receive AAdvantage Platinum status from May 14 – August 14, 2015, and keep it through February 29, 2016 by enrolling in the American Airlines Business Extra Program and earning 10,000 elite qualifying points by traveling on American Airlines, US Airways, or other select airlines during the challenge period.
Earning JetBlue Mosaic status is also pretty easy: just purchase and fly two round-trips via the FoundersCard booking platform. Normally you’d have to fly 30 segments or earn 15,000 flight points annually, so this is a nice shortcut. Mosaic isn’t as valuable as elite status with American, United, or Delta, but it comes in handy if you fly JetBlue regularly. Even if you don’t value the benefits, you’ll earn 15,000 bonus points immediately upon qualifying for status in a given year, which is worth at least $150.
FoundersCard Events – This Week in NYC!
One of the less quantifiable benefits of FoundersCard membership is the entrepreneurial organization that comes with it. FoundersCard regularly holds events like the one they’ll be holding this Wednesday, April 29, at the Classic Car Club in New York City. The TPG Team will be among the 300 or so attendees; members are invited (even brand new ones), and you can RSVP up until hours before the event starts.
As a reminder, you can get FoundersCard membership for only $395/annually (with no initiation fee) by using the code FCPOINTSVIP when signing up. In future posts the TPG team will highlight the FoundersCard hotel program, and offer more details on the other lifestyle benefits and business discounts, so please let us know in the comments if there’s any aspect of the membership that you’re curious about.
