Marriott has announced a new promotion for potential enrollees to sign up for its Marriott Rewards program in exchange for awarding them a free night — after two paid stays at any of the chain’s 3,000-plus hotels in over 70 countries.

To earn your free night:

  • Join Marriott Rewards and be automatically registered to earn your free night certificate.
  • Stay twice at participating hotels during your earning period (a stay is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity). Your earning period starts the day you enroll through the end of that month, plus an additional 120 days.
  • Earn a free night at a category 1–5 hotel after your second paid stay.

Offhand, the only perk that makes this promotion a decent deal is the amount of time you have to take two paid stays: a full five months and then earn a free night. It’s a decent incentive for new members, as it’s of course free to join, and you can stay at any category of hotel (even just Category 1) in order to earn the free night.

Redeem your free night at the Davenport, Autograph Collection, which is a Category 5 property.

According to the registration site, the free night is at participating Category 1-5 Marriott properties so it’s best to doublecheck before booking, to make sure the property you’d like to redeem at is included.
