Emirates is currently offering a fare sale for flights from many U.S. gateway cities to Dubai for $1,299 total for two people. In order to take advantage of this deal, you must book by Thursday, March 12, 2015, for travel by December 10, 2015 for a party of two.
The U.S. gateway cities you can depart from on Emirates include New York (JFK), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Washington DC (IAD), Houston (IAH), Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO) and Dallas Ft. Worth (DFW).
Searching from Chicago O’Hare to Dubai in early May yielded me fares for $1,297 round-trip for two people, which comes down to under $650 per person from the US to the Middle East, which isn’t a bad deal!
As these fares book in the Economy Special fare, these are not upgradable with miles to Business Class. If you’re wondering where to credit these flights, I’d suggest Alaska Airlines, since they are currently offering a promotion where you can earn double miles, when crediting from Emirates, but be sure to register first. As a reminder, when crediting Emirates flights to Alaska, you’d normally earn 50% of the miles flown when booking Emirates cheapest fare classes, but with this promotion, it’s like earning full mileage credit. As an extra bonus is if you use “USALK15” promotion code when purchasing your emirates ticket, you can get an extra $50 off per person which brings down these tickets to around $600 per person!
If you were to credit these flights to Emirates, you’d only be earning 3,000 Skywards Miles and 3,000 tier miles on these fights from Chicago to Dubai, making crediting to Alaska a wiser decision.
When booking these, be sure to use a credit card that maximizes airfare purchases, like 3x on airfare with the American Express Premier Rewards Gold or 2x on the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Check out this post for more on maximizing airfare purchases.
