Iceland’s low-cost carrier WOW Air is launching service from to Reykjavik from Boston (BOS) and Baltimore (BWI), beginning in March and June of 2015, respectively. And WOW are they doing it in style, offering great deals on flights from both destinations not only to Iceland, but also to other European destinations including London. We’ve written about these cheap fares before, but it seems that they are back again!
You can now book travel from Boston and Washington on WOW Air for this year, with several weekly flights to Iceland and onwards to London and Copenghagen. A search in October turned up this one-way flight from Boston for only $99.
You can also book similar one-way flights from Baltimore to Keflavik for $99 on October.
One-way flights are cheaper outbound, like the one below to London for just $205. Even if you’re not planning a trip to London, these flights could provide an inexpensive way to get to Europe, especially if you can book award travel for your return.
You can book as far out as the end of the year, and there seems to be decent availability. While there doesn’t seem to be a published end date to these fares, I recommend buying soon so you don’t miss out.
While WOW Air may not be a part of a major alliance and these cheap flights won’t help towards any major elite status, you can still bank extra credit card points by using a card that maximizes airfare purchases, like 3x on airfare with the American Express Premier Rewards Gold or 2x on the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Check out this post for more on maximizing airfare purchases.
I spent an awesome five days in Iceland last year, and I hope you’ll be able to do the same. If you’re able to score one of these tickets, please share the good news and your travel plans in the comments below!
