Starwood just announced their new fall promotion More For You, where SPG members can earn either double or triple Starpoints depending on which nights of the week their stay is with Starwood. This promotion is valid for stays between September 15 and December 15, 2014.

Promotion Details:

  • Double Starpoints on stays of two or more eligible nights
  • Triple Starpoints on eligible stays that include a Friday or Saturday night (Thursday or Friday night in the Middle East)

Register by October 31, 2014, and start earning more at over 1,000 participating Starwood hotels and resorts through December 15, ‬‬‬2014.

One major downside is that there’s a pretty extensive list of Non-Participating Hotels and Resorts, which Starwood is known to include for most promotions. There are around 150 hotels on the list, including cities such as New York City, Boston and Chicago, where almost every SPG hotel within those cities is excluded. As always, be sure to check this list before booking your stay.

While I’m not blown away by this promo, I do appreciate its simplicity, and it’s definitely going to drive some of my business toward Starwood this fall. As a 75-Night Platinum and a Starwood Amex cardholder, I’ll earn up to 8-10x points per $1 on Starwood stays, which is a great earning rate since I value SPG points at 2.3 cents a piece. That means I can expect a total return of around 23% on my spending. In any case, this promotion is pretty similar to their summer Earn Away Get Away promotion, which also offered up to triple Starpoints per night depending on when you stayed.

SPG Triple Crave
SPG Triple Crave

In addition to this new offer, Starwood has launched their SPG Triple Crave promotion, where SPG members can earn triple Starpoints Mondays through Thursdays on purchases of $50 or more at participating Starwood restaurants through December 30, 2014. You can register for this offer through November 30, 2014.

You don’t have to be staying at the Starwood property to earn these bonus points. So, if you happen to live near a Starwood hotel that has a reastaurant you like, just write your SPG number down when the check comes and you’ll earn the regular SPG points in addition to the triple points from this offer.  You can view the full list of participating restaurants to see if any of your favorites are on it.

Hilton HHonors Triple Your Trip

From August 1 through October 31, Hilton is offering 2x bonus points for stays on Monday-Thursday nights, and triple points on Friday-Sunday stays. You can find details of the promotion here, and register for it here.

The bonus points are calculated from the base points you would normally earn, so 10x points per $1 at most Hilton brands (excluding Home2Suites, where you earn 5x points per dollar). Double points would end up earning you 20x points per $1, and triple points would be 30x. Bonus points do not count toward elite status.

Note that there is a list of non-participating hotels that include popular properties like the Hilton San Francisco Financial District, the Hilton Waikiki Beach, and the London Hilton on Park Lane.
