I’ve gone through my fair share of emotional turmoil with Delta this year, but even though I’ve been unhappy with recent changes to their loyalty program, I have to admit that they still offer some decent perks to their most loyal customers.
Today and tomorrow, September 22 and 23, 2014, if you are a Delta Diamond, Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion or hold the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express, Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express and/or Delta Reserve credit card, you can take advantage of discounts of up to 10,000 miles on Delta economy round-trips during select dates between October 22, 2014 and February 28, 2015.
All tickets issued via this sale will be non-refundable, except in accordance with Delta’s cancellation policy meaning Platinum and Diamonds should still be able to cancel as long as it’s greater than 72 hours. These Delta Saver and Standard travel awards are offered at the following discounts:
Examples of Discounted Awards:
I was able to find Delta Saver awards at the discounted rate of 21,000 miles for these New York (JFK)- Los Angeles (LAX) flights.
If you wanted to head to Europe you could do so for only 50,000 SkyMiles round-trip from New York (JFK) to Rome (FCO).
There was decent saver availability for awards to Europe, so while SkyMiles aren’t always the easiest to use, you can put them to work on these discounted awards.
As a reminder, if you need to top off your SkyMiles account, you can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Delta at a 1:1 ratio. Be sure to book these discounted awards online at delta.com to avoid incurring a $25 fee for booking over the phone. You can also check out the SkyMiles Award Charts and Terms and Conditions of this offer.
