The First Friday of the month is here, which means you can earn 3x Ultimate Rewards points on dining purchases with the Chase Sapphire or Sapphire Preferred cards. No registration is necessary, Chase will award the bonus points automatically for any qualifying purchases made by 11:59 pm in whatever time zone you happen to find yourself.

While Chase has announced plans to get rid of the 7% dividend on the Sapphire Preferred, current cardholders will still earn the bonus for this year and next, so the 3x points on First Friday dining really translates to 3.21 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent. As always, you can double or triple dip by booking a reservation with OpenTable, or by using certificates from Restaurant.com.

Stack First Friday With Dining Program Bonuses and Gift Cards
Both AAdvantage Dining and United MileagePlus Dining are still offering a 10,000 mile bonus when you make 10 dining purchases (of at least $40 each) at participating restaurants between now and August 15, 2014. Note that $40 gift card purchases will work to trigger the 10,000 mile dining program bonus, so if you don’t have plans to eat out 10 times during the promotion period, you can buy the gift cards today (on First Friday) to maximize your points and miles!

The 10K dining promotion has been extended to Aug. 31. Also, be careful if you buy gift cards with the same amount from the same restaurant on the same day. I bought several $40 gift cards from a restaurant on one day and I only got credit for one. I called the dining program and they told me their software thinks more than one charge of the same amount will be eliminated as a duplicate. I had to make copies of my cc bill and send them to the dining program and I’m still waiting to get this resolved. So if you buy multiple gc’s from the same place on the same day do it in different amounts.

I have a J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate Rewards card, I currently have 12,000 points in my bank. I would like to know what is the best way to spend these points on – travel, gift cards or merchandise? I would appreciate any feedback on this – THANK YOU!!

Google is paying approx 80$ per>>CLICK FINENCIAL REPORT FOR MORE INFO

I had the same experience too. But it was just a $25 GC so I didn’t bother.

Nice to see the raw shilling go straight to the interns now!

If I had spent $100 on every Friday for the last year, I’d have 1200 Chase points. That’s enough to go to Bermuda baby!!!

Will you receive the 3x pts for 1st Friday as well as the 2x pts for Dining? Or does the 2x pts just bump up to 3x pts for 1st Friday

3x points total, so you’re getting one point extra beyond the standard dining bonus.

This is great – the first date night every month with my wife. We are having a great time picking out restaurants for monthly splurge dining.

  • Frugality

Does getting 3 points/dollar really give you incentive to splurge? I mean, it’s not that great…

  • Michael Rasmussen

    Any excuse!
We’ll splurge anyway. We just time it for the first Friday.

This is a dumb question, and I have a feeling the answer is yes, but I can’t seem to find the answer searching online…

Can you enroll the same credit card in both AA and United’s dining programs and get miles on both?

    Thanks, all!

The past two months I have been dining on the first Friday of the month, but when I check my statement, the transaction is dated for the following day. Am I being cheated?
