One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2014 was to meet more of my TPG readers This past spring after speaking at the New York Times Travel Show, I had the great pleasure to meet up with some of my most loyal readers. We had over 100 TPG readers in attendance who won invitations and came to chat the night away. We swapped those mileage battle stories and guests took away some new TPG swag.

The best part for me was being able to engage with our readers and discuss current topics, answer questions and just have great casual conversations. That being said, I’m happy to announce that we will be holding another meetup in 2 weeks in the Windy City, and we would love to for you to come!

Visit our Facebook Contest Page to enter to win tickets for you plus a guest, and we are holding it at a Starwood property in Chicago. We are giving away 30 pairs of tickets to the event, we’ll have great food and drinks and it will be a nice casual opportunity for you to come, meet Team TPG and pick our brains on some of the top stories of the day or just tell us about your favorite travel and miles tips! You need to be in Chicago and available to attend in order to win, but if not don’t worry, we’ll be in other cities soon! Enter today, good luck and we hope to meet you in Chicago!

Off-topic, but over my morning coffee I saw TPG was quoted in the WaPo today – congrats!

  • Brian

can you do one in Miami ?

  • Mr. Cool

can i just purchase a ticket?

  • thepointsguy

    Stay tuned!

  • jacisme

Second that. This is the first I’m hearing about this at all, and I live in Chicago. Is this contest invite only or can we just buy a ticket?

  • Cory Davis

I’m probably within walking distance of this SPG property–just saying! If you’re around on the 21st and needing something to do, check the link below.

Why can’t you just host a regular meet up with your readers like most other bloggers? The fact we have to “win a chance” to meet you makes you come off as kind of an egotist.

  • Barb

I hope I win! #inchicagoalready Gotta get my friend into this game.

  • Al

    Don’t you know the character?

  • winton

which starwood property will this be? some are fairly difficult to get to…thanks

  • MC Squared

FWIW, with 30×2 or 60 total tickets, at least you’d have a chance at talking to team TPG. Opening the floodgates in such a transit hub probably wouldn’t work out, either for the venue or the event itself.

He is an ego-maniac (well, anyone who affirms life as a positive is, I suppose), but he has a platform, just like celebrities with Instagram, to display his experiences.

  • Stephen

Didn’t sign up since I’m going back and forth between San Francisco and Seattle over the next two months! Hope to see TPG in either city this summer!

  • Alex

You should do one in DFW or something :) A bit more notice lol 2 weeks is pushing it to get tickets to fly anywhere now. Unless you’re coming to Tulsa :)

  • thepointsguy

We are limited to the size of the venue and budget, so unfortunately it can’t be a free-for-all. Plus, we want to keep the numbers manageable so we can meet everyone and have a nice evening. Apologies if it sounds egotistical, but there’s never going to be a way to please everyone when you have an event with limited seats. We plan on doing more of these events across the country so will think about the way we distribute tickets after this first event

Los Angeles, please! I went to the one in New York, but as I was only in the city for a day, may have started drinking first thing in the morning and possible not stopped at all…ending with tequila shots with you and some…Russians?

Anyway…LA, and do it somewhere huge :)

  • Huy

any news on purchasing a ticket? or maybe a post event meet up?

  • Mr. Cool

any way to just purchase tix?

  • Dan Nainan

People with scarce talent and a following have a right to choose the time, place and parameters of meeting them.

Also it’s not just about meeting TPG, it’s sharing with others of like mind as well.

If you don’t like the blog, then don’t read it. Problem solved. And kudos to TPG for not deleting these negative and comments.

  • Dan Nainan

Please do one of these in New York!
