I generally don’t rent cars anymore when I travel, because it’s more convenient and can even be cheaper to Uber everywhere I need to go. Plus, I can use my phone without having to worry about causing an accident and I save a ton of time not having to park or getting lost. Let’s just say I don’t miss my rental car days (and adding on an extra 30 minutes to airport trips to factor in returning the car).
Uber is now offering a free ride (up to $30) for new users (sign-up link). Note: I get a free ride if you sign-up with my link, so thanks in advance if you use my link!
- Worth up to $30
- Work anywhere in the USA
- Good for all ride options, except uberTAXI
- New users must sign up in the USA
Maximizing Points With Uber
This is in addition to their new Amex partnership (which I wouldn’t take advantage of unless I needed to boost my Membership Rewards balance). I’d rather use the Chase Sapphire Preferred to pay for my Uber rides because you earn 2.14x points per dollar spent because Uber is classified as a travel expense (2x). You can also use the Barclaycard Arrival Plus and Capital One Venture cards and earn 2x points and then use points at 1 cent each to erase the charge from your statement (minimum $25 with the Arrival Plus).
