IHG Rewards – the loyalty program of Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, etc. – recently sent out a bonus offer via email to targeted Rewards Club members offering 5,000 bonus points after 3 nights at any of their 4,700 properties worldwide between May 15 and September 2, 2014.
I love promotions like this because they reward you for brand loyalty without making you jump through hoops to earn the bonus. This promotion is targeted , but there are reports that non-targeted Rewards Club members have also been able to register. Even if you haven’t received an email from IHG, try registering here with the promo code 7093 to see if you can earn the bonus. Once you register, simply stay 3 nights at properties in the IHG family and your account will be credited with the extra 5,000 points! IHG frequently lets you stack bonuses for various promotions, so if you have travel planned this month, you should also register for the 1,000 points bonus for stays through May 30, 2014.
A stay is qualified when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. Only one room per member per stay will be awarded the applicable bonus points, and no retroactive bonus points will be awarded for stays prior to registration. You can only earn the bonus once during the promotional period. You must be a member with a registered member number to participate, so if you haven’t yet signed up for IHG Rewards, this is a golden opportunity!
The 5,000 point bonus from this promo makes a nice addition to the signup bonus from the IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card, which offers 60,000 points after you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months of account opening (or via this FlyerTalk thread there are 80,000 phttp://thepointsguy.com/IHGRewardsVisaMarketoint offers out there). This card also comes with an annual free night certificate redeemable at any hotel in the IHG family, and confers Platinum Elite status to the cardholder. There is a $49 annual fee that is waived the first year.
If you already have the IHG Mastercard but want more ways to top up your account, keep in mind that IHG is a 1:1 transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards if you have the Sapphire Preferred, Ink Bold or Ink Plus, so that’s a quick and easy way to boost your balance, though “buying” points for less than a cent per piece through their Cash & Points program is a smarter, cheaper bet than transferring from Chase.
Keep an eye out for more IHG Rewards promos this summer, and maximize your points earnings for IHG hotel stays!
