Update: The offer for the The Premier Miles & More World Mastercard has changed. View the current offer here.
Here’s a recap of the interesting points and miles news from the week:
United Miles For Purchasing/Leasing A Mercedes-Benz: United and Mercedes Benz are partnering again to offer MileagePlus elite members special incentives when purchasing/leasing a Mercedes Benz, including up to 25,000 bonus award miles. The bonus miles offer is valid for the purchase/lease of Mercedes CLS-class, the M-Class, and the E-class vehicles. However, if you prefer to negotiate, this offer isn’t necessarily for you as you are quoted a non-negotiable online price – which is kind of odd for a car purchase. The offer is valid until March 31, 2014.
10,000 Lufthansa Miles For Subscribing To The Economist: Earn up to 10,000 Miles & More for Lufthansa when you subscribe to The Economist. There are three options to choose from: a print subscription, digital subscription, or print and digital subscription.
- 10,000 bonus miles for $160 Print AND Digital Subscription
- 7,500 bonus miles for $127 Print Subscription
- 7,500 bonus miles for $127 Digital Subscription
If you get the first option, you are getting your Lufthansa miles at 1.6 cents each, and if you do one of the other two options, 1.7 cents each. Either way isn’t too bad a deal, even if you aren’t a reader of The Economist. There doesn’t seem to be information available on when this offer expires, or other terms or conditions, so I would subscribe as soon as possible if you’re interested. Remember, though, the The Premier Miles & More World Mastercard is offering a sign-up bonus of 20,000 miles with first purchase and up to 15,000 more miles with a balance transfer in the first 30 days if you’re looking for a way to score some Lufthansa miles.

The acceptable dimensions are: 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches, including handles and wheel case and a small item that is no larger than 9 inches x 10 inches x 17 inches. Of course there is nothing wrong with United enforcing their own rules, but in case you are planning on bringing a bag that may be oversize, make sure to measure it ahead of time in order to avoid fees in case there is truth to the rumor.
