20% Amex Transfer Bonus to El Al: One of the lesser-discussed Amex airline transfer partners is El Al, and like with Virgin Atlantic (30%) and British Airways (20%), Amex is currently offering a 20% transfer bonus to El Al. Normally, 1,000 Amex points = 20 Matmid points, but with this promo, 1,000 Amex = 24 Matmid. You need 1,400, 3,000 or 5,000 Matmid for economy, business or first class respectively from New York to Tel Aviv, so you’d have to transfer 70,000, 150,000 or 250,000 Amex points normally, but with this promo, you’d need just 59,000, 125,000 or 209,000 points. That’s still a lot of points, but if this is a redemption you’ve been thinking about, now is the time to make the transfer while the bonus is available through November 30, 2013. Just note, fuel surcharges tend to be about $350, and business class does not have lie-flat seats.
