Update: The 50,000 point offer for the Premier Rewards Gold card may no longer be available through Card Match.  View the current public offer here.

Today, November 25, 2013, TPG team members checked the Card Match Tool and were pleasantly surprised to see that they were presented with an amazing offer. This tool is targeted, so you may not be eligible for the same offer, but it can’t hurt to try. Share what offers you get matched with below.

The offer is for the Premier Rewards Gold card with a sign up bonus of 50,000 Membership Rewards points after only $1,000 spent within the first 3 months with the $175 annual fee waived the first year (vs. the public offer of only 25,000 points after $2,000 spent in the first 3 months). Since I already have this card I was not matched with this offer but I know several people who have been presented with it.

To see if you are eligible for this offer or any other amazing deals:

1. Go to the Card Match Tool:

The Card Match Tool will not pull a hard inquiry on your credit

2. Enter your information

3. You should be redirected to a page with the offers from American Express and can apply directly from there.

Cardmatch Premier Awards Gold

I tried the site at 10 am PST on Monday and it matched me with the Amex  Premier Awards Gold.

Up to  50,000 Membership Rewards points for the American Express Premier Rewards Gold card: The public offer on this card is just 25,000 Membership Rewards points when you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months, but this offer is for double that for spending half! So you get points by spending just $1,000 in 3 months and the rest of the terms are the same including the annual fee of $175 being waived for the first year.  “Welcome bonus offer not available to current American Express card members.”

To read about great ways to maximize Membership Rewards points and why I find them so useful, check out my Top 10 post on reasons I like Membership Rewards cards, but one of the major reasons is the program’s numerous transfer partners, giving you the ultimate flexibility when redeeming your points.

Amex points also equates to $ as a base value if you use Amex’s Pay With Points feature rather than transferring to a travel partner program – that way you still get mileage and elite credit on any flights you purchase, which is a pretty great value for a card with no annual fee for the first year.

Transfer Partners

Membership Rewards can be hold a tremendous amount of value thanks to the program’s 22 airline and hotel transfer partners which include:

Star Alliance:
Air Canada Aeroplan, Singapore, All Nippon Airlines
Oneworld: British Airways, Iberia, Cathay Pacific
Skyteam: Delta, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Alitalia, Aeromexico
Other: Emirates, Virgin America, Virgin Atlantic, El Al, Frontier, JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines

Starwood 3:1
Hilton 1:1.5
Best Western 1:1
Jumeirah 23:1

How do you get 3:1 ratio on MR points to SPG?

  • thepointsguy

The standard ratio is 3 Amex points to 1 Starpoint, which is not a good deal in my opinion

Any insight on why I only get pathetic First Premier & Capital One offers?

FICOs 740 across the board, 2.5 AAoA, perfect payments. Have AMEX Platinum, CSP, multiple Visa Sigs and MC World Elites. Just astounds me that I get these paltry match results…

  • Alex

Try clearing your matches. That’s what I had to do to get it to pop up. But I kept getting an error when I went to confirm application. So.. :(

  • joshb8403

so sad, was not offered any amex :(

  • Ben Price

Same boat here. “Perfect” everything, yet don’t get much of anything from the card match tool….First Premier and Capital One only.

  • Tyler Brown

Got the offer but I’m getting a “servers are not responding” error on their page after step 3. Hmm.

  • Bucky Katt

Same. I also got offers from something called “Simmons Bank”, so lucky me. I tried clearing my matches, but it just kicked me back to the original offer screen, and when I entered my information back in, it gave me the same sad offers.

  • not impressed

Stupid website will not process a null for middle name. Idiot site designers.

  • Jason Scott

No Amex for me. Just junk cards offered.

  • Traveller

Anyone tried just calling Amex and asking for an improved sign up?

  • Karo

    Ditto. Bummer!

  • Edwin

Also not working for me – just getting lame CapOne and 1st Premier offers. Hopefully it has nothing to do with having the Business Gold card.

  • Jordan

I’m receiving the same thing. Has anyone gotten past this? I tried calling the 1800# but Amex would not match the offer.

  • Viktoria

got this message while trying to apply:

Currently, our systems are not responding. Please try again later or call/contact us as follows

  • Thomas

Some people are also seeing a 100k AmEx Platinum offer. However, those T&Cs state that ‘if you are identified as an existing AmEx cardmember, you may not be eligible for this offer.’ So those of us not seeing any AmEx offers (and perhaps even having difficulty successfully submitting the application) it may be due to being an existing AmEx customer. These offers may well be designed to attract new business only.

  • Danny

I got nothing but junk cards.

  • Tyler Brown

UPDATE: Reapplied this morning (~12am EST) and the application went through with an approval. I’m guessing their servers were just bombarded yesterday.

  • 2Infinity&Beyond

Tried using the CardMatch process and it did not work. I then went through the AMEX site and used the “Your Special Offers” process, and it worked. Thanks for the heads up Brian!

  • David

Thanks for the tip. Applied and was approved for the 50K offer.

  • Brian

Don’t trust AMEX on this. I went for this last time it was offered through the Match Tool (~03/2013), and they denied my bonus after I waited and waited. The reason? I had a “similar product.” That similar product was a Gold Rewards card I had held for a decade. I am still FURIOUS about this.

  • guzman

Hi, just a heads up that almost every time I’ve clicked for an offer from Amex, they don’t fulfill all the points, and you have to waste lots of time on the phone to get some of those points (some times I’ve gotten all back after about a hour on the phone, but that’s not guaranteed). That also counts for the offers for referring other people to their cards

  • Derek

Offer showed up for me but their system was down for most of the day. Just got through with instant approval.

  • Jordan

The offer is still there and I am no longer getting the error message. I was just approved for it with the 50k bonus!

  • Mitch

After 5 days of attempting using different locations and computers it still isn’t going though. As others have mentioned they won’t match it on the phone. Anyone else still struggling

  • Mitch

Update: I tried using Internet Explorer and it went through right away. Just a heads up.

  • Alex

*update* After days of getting errors, I finally got approved! :) First amex gold ever! :)
