Update: The offer mentioned below for the Platinum Card from American Express has expired. View the current offer here.

Aeroplan, the frequent flyer program of Air Canada, is offering a bunch of potentially lucrative promos with bonus miles flying right and left, so today I thought I’d do a quick post rounding up the current promotions and bonuses for our Canada-based readers, or those who use Aeroplan as their main Star Alliance program, including folks who transfer their Amex Membership Rewards points into it if they have an Amex card like the Premier Rewards Gold, Business Gold Rewards or Platinum cards.

Earn up to 15,000 Bonus Miles For Fall Travel
Now through November 30, 2013, when you fly Air Canada, Air Canada Express or Air Canada Rouge you can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles. Fly 12 segments and earn 3,000 bonus miles, and fly 25 segments and earn 15,000 miles. That’s a lot of flying, but if you have some Air Canada travel coming up or a bunch of business travel in the coming weeks, might as well earn the bonus miles. Just be sure to register here.

Aero SPG

Earn up to 9,000 Bonus Miles With Starwood
Starwood has partnered with Aeroplan this fall to offer Air Canada flyers up to 9,000 bonus miles for stays between now and December 15, 2013. Here’s how it breaks down. Stay 5 qualifying nights and earn 5,000 bonus Aeroplan miles. Stay 2 more qualifying nights (7 total) and earn 2,000 more bonus miles. Stay 2 more qualifying nights (9 total) and earn 2,000 more bonus miles. All up to a maximum of 9,000 bonus miles. You must be a member of SPG and register for the promotion in order to earn the bonus miles. You can accrue qualifying nights across stays and properties (so they are cumulative, not consecutive), but you only get bonus miles for paid stays (those that accrue Starpoints), not award nights or cash & points stays.

Earn up to 1,500 Bonus Miles on Fairmont Stays
For every stay at Fairmont Hotels now through November 30, Aeroplan members can earn 1,500 bonus miles. Register here and provide your Aeroplan Number at time of booking and present your Aeroplan Card at check-in. Fairmont President’s Club members can add their Aeroplan Number to their membership profile to earn miles.

Aero MR

One more promotion good until 28 Oct.: you get 5X the miles on your purchases through the estore from Aeroplan.com

Earn Your Wings is another fairly lucrative promo for flying AC. It’s a little confusing, but it’s on now and worth signing up for:

Question about the SPG benefit: If you are already earning Delta miles through crossover rewards, can you earn spg points, delta miles and Aeroplan miles all at once through this promo?

  • http://www.rewardscanada.ca/ Rewards Canada

Yes you should be able to as people earning Starpoints only can earn this Aeroplan bonus (I did last year when they ran it)

Just wanted to post a great promo for Canadians – Amex Gold Card Aeroplan, no fee year #1 30K AP after $500 spend

What Margo posted is nothing new… ThePointsGuy already had the same offer and even more offers for Canadians in his “Top Deals” (there is a section for Canadians if you scroll down that page: http://thepointsguy.com/top-deals-3/ ). There are offers for Amex and Scotia. Don’t know why there aren’t any for CIBC, though, but I guess it might be because CIBC is going to lose Aeroplan to TD from January.

Clive, the offer posted in “Top Deals” for Aeroplan Amex Gold is 20K, $1,000 spend, & $120 fee. This is the best offer that is currently out there. https://www.americanexpress.com/canada/en/mgm/mgmeeApplynow.cgi?mgmerCard=aeroPlanPlatinumCard&MGM_URN=AAAAEgASHh8VDw==&CPID=999999370

Here’s another idea to maximize the CDN bonus offers. The Gold rewards card is offering 25K (transfers 1:1 to AP), no fee year #1, & only $500 spend. So if you sign up both cards (AP Gold & Gold rewards) you will earn over 55K in bonuses.

You were sort of right because TPG had not updated the info about the offer when you took a look at it, but the offer was 30K for $500 and no annual fee if you clicked on it. Anyway, TPG update his site since then, so now it show the offer as it really is.

Also, until November 15, 2013, it is much better to get the regular Amex Gold card through greatcanadianrebates.com as it will give you the same benefits as your referral link (which you should at least be upfront with and let people know it’s a referral link; there’s nothing wrong with a referral as long as people are aware of it) but you will also get $50 for getting the card through their site. That offer as good until October 31 but got extended another 2 weeks, so if you read this later it doesn’t hurt to take a look in case the offer is still on.
