Chase Southwest 50,000 Point Sign-up Bonuses Ends Tuesday: The limited-time 50,000 point sign-up bonus for all four Southwest Visa cards will be ending this Tuesday, August 6, 2013. To get the 50,000 points you need to spend $2,000 in the first 3 months of opening your account and there is a $99 fee on the Premier cards (both personal and business) and $69 fee on the Plus cards (both personal and business). The Premier comes with 6,000 points every anniversary (~$108 in Wanna Get Away Fares) and the Plus gets 3,000 ($54). There are 2 main types of Southwest card: Premier and Plus and each has a personal and business version. Chase will allow you to get the sign-up bonus for each card and it is possible to get two cards in one day so with the $2,000 in minimum spend on two cards plus the 50,000 point bonuses, you’re looking at 104,000 points that help towards Companion Pass Qualification, for which you only need 110,000 points total.

Earn up to a 100% bonus on purchased US Airways miles.

Up to 100% Bonus on Purchased US Airways Miles: As a recap from earlier this week, US Airways is currently offering a targeted bonus of up to 100% for buying or gifting miles up to 50,000 (so 100,000 with the bonus) now through August 31, 2013 (it was extended from the original deadline of July 31). Miles are normally sold for 3.5 cents each plus a 7.5% tax recovery charge. With this tiered bonus, you’ll receive a 50% bonus for buying 10,000-19,000 miles; a 75% bonus for buying 20,000-29,000 miles; or a 100% bonus for buying 30,000-50,000 miles. Although buying miles can be costly and usually only makes sense with a specific redemption in mind, given the fact that US Airways will merge with American sometime in 2014 and the deal is expected to close by the end of the summer, this could be one of your last chances to get in on a 100% bonus on purchased miles.

100% Bonus When Buying Avianca Taca LifeMiles: Now through August 30, 2013, Avianca/Taca is offering a 100% bonus on purchased miles. Purchases must be made in 1,000-mile increments with a maximum of 75,000 miles, at a cost of 1.5 cents per mile. Avianca is a member of Star Alliance and you can view their award chart here, but for instance, round-trip business class from North America to either Europe or Southern South America (Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia) is 100,000 miles (135,000 in first class). Another great value in the Avianca award chart is going from North America to South Africa (which includes pretty much everywhere in Sub-Saharan African including the Seychelles, Mauritius and South Africa itself) in business class for just 120,000 miles.

Will the southwest bonus points count towards companion pass?

I’m pretty sure the Lifemiles bonus applies to buying miles, not transferring them.

I’ve recently applied and been approved for Southwest Premier card. When I called to activate the card, I was told that I’ll receive 50000 RR points after the first purchase (although I applied for the version with $2000 spend requirement). I don’t know whether I should still go ahead and put $2000 in spend. If the offer is indeed for – after the 1st purchase, when do you think the points will post?

Loving all these great posts :) thanks! Regarding the SW /Mariott gift card promotion, I am guessing this would count toward the spending requirements on the 2 new cards (thanks to you I applied and received approval on both via your website) and want to maximize the spending. I have searched both the Mariott and SW sites and cannot find anything about the 1200 points for the $100 GC purchase. Where is it?

I submitted my app for the southwest 50,000 bonus on 8-6 and was not immediately approved but tonight i see the account in my chase account summary. I don’t see anything about the 50,000 reward points after $2000 in the reward explanation. Would they have not given me this deal because I was not actually approved by the deadline? I feel short changed if that it the case.
