AwardWallet as been one of my go-to sites for tracking miles and points for years. However, recently several major airlines have ordered them to stop allowing users access to their mileage accounts over “security” concerns and also because airlines make a lot of money off their frequent flyers and don’t want them using a third party site to get their account information.
However, today American Airlines and Award Wallet announced a new partnership that would allow Award Wallet users to track their AAdvantage balances effective immediately. I just logged in to AwardWallet and was able to add my AA account successfully.
I hope this partnership also encourages United, Southwest and Delta to take a similar approach and allow AwardWallet access, because it’s a great tool for consumers to be able to track their miles across different account. I’m sure American realized that AwardWallet has a lot of valuable data and it was better to partner up, than miss out on potentially lucrative competitive data. With great transfer partners like United and Hyatt, 2x points on travel & dining and a 50,000 point sign up bonus, the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great card for those looking to get into the points and miles game.
