Summer means road trips – and not always in your own set of wheels. So whether you are driving up the West coast in a convertible or  need a minivan big enough to transport the family between amusement parks in Orlando, saving money on car rental is a priority.

Rental

How do these tend to stack up against using CarRentals.com…

  • blake

I’ve found carrentalsavers.com to be pretty much impossible to beat for several different upcoming rentals (in Hawaii, for what it’s worth). No bonus miles, but the cash savings make it more than worth it in my mind

  • http://mreverydaydollar.com/ Mr. Everyday Dollar

Thanks for compiling this list Brian. With a planned trip to California in the fall, which will include renting a car to drive the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to San Diego, this post will help me decide how to squeeze extra points/miles out of the rental.

  • Andrew

Booking through Chase Ultimate Rewards has never let me down. It was about $200 cheaper than anything else I could find on my latest 10 day SUV rental.

  • Mr. Cool

thanks for the links, BUT….EACH of these deals is MORE expensive than booking through kayak

  • DBest

Not everyone rents cars on their own dime, and some have leeway in their choices. One promo I would add is an ongoing Aeroplan deal of 5000 points for a 5+ day rental at Hertz.

  • Little Tea Blog

How does this compare to the double points Hertz is offering?

  • Quibbler

Quibbling, but I’ve noticed it a few times lately…learn the difference between ‘effect’ and ‘affect’ and use the properly.

  • Mr. Cool

sure, but i would wager that this demographic, which rents on others’ dimes is in the minority. this post ignores cost…weird
