Earlier today, the Priority Club Connect online forum released the next set of PointBreaks hotel properties, and the list will go live later today on the official PointBreaks page where you will be able to book discounted award nights for just 5,000 points a night for stays through August 31, 2013.

Priority Club PointBreaks are reduced-level award redemptions at Priority Club hotels (Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Indigo, Holiday Inn, etc.) that require just 5,000 Priority Club points for a free night and that change every 2 months. Depending on the hotel at which you redeem them, 5,000 points can be a pretty great value, especially for Intercontinental properties, which normally require between 30,000-50,000 points, and Hotel Indigos and Crowne Plazas, which usually require 20,000-50,000 points depending on their category.

The list of PointBreak properties is usually pretty random, and there tend to be a lot more lower-end properties, but keep track of them because you never know when you might be in one of these offbeat destinations. For instance, last year I actually ended up using a PointBreaks rate at the Intercontinental Phnom Penh (which is also on the current list) so I was able to redeem 5,000 points instead of paying the $150 nightly rate, wringing about 3 cents of value per point.

If you need Priority Club points quickly, they transfer 1:1 from Chase Ultimate Rewards (note: transfers usually take 1-2 business days) if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Bold or Ink Plus cards. Or simply buy them via Priority Club directly for .7 cents a point using the cash & points method described in this post (#7), making 5,000 points worth just $35.

Also remember that tomorrow’s Amex/US Travel Association Daily Getaways’ sales include Priority Club points packages of 50,000 points for $325 (0.65 cents per point) or 100,000 points for $630 (0.63 cents per point), so in theory, you could get up to 20 award nights for $630! Just note, sales are limited, so you have to get in on them fast.

You can buy discounted packages of Priority Club points during tomorrow's Daily Getaways sales.

Recent PointBreaks lists haven’t been very exciting, and the last one had just three Intercontinentals in destinations like Vietnam and Honduras. This one isn’t looking terribly impressive, but at least there are a couple Intercontinentals and Crowne Plazas, but no Hotel Indigo locations.

In the US, the hotels are mostly Holiday Inns and Staybridge Suites, though there are Crowne Plazas in Phoenix, Silicon Valley, Boston Baltimore, Alexandria and a few others. All in all, not the most exciting list, but 5,000 points is still a bargain considering you can get them for about $35, so if any of your upcoming travels take you to some of these places, you might as well look into redeeming your Priority Club points there.

You can find the entire list on the preview page, but here are some of the ones I thought were interesting:

InterContinental Phnom Penh

Costa Rica
InterContinental Real San Jose-Costa Rica

InterContinental Real Guatemala

InterContinental Athenaeum Athens

InterContinental Aqaba (Resort Aqaba)

Crowne Plaza Kathmandu-Soaltee

InterContinental Bucharest

InterContinental Asiana Saigon
