Ever since I took a hard-hat tour of the Andaz Wailea on Maui last August, I’ve been following the resort’s progress.

It was originally supposed to open this spring, but now the opening date has been pushed back to mid-September. On the bright side, though the resort is offering guests 2 nights free on stays of nights or longer from opening through December 20, 2013 plus a $75 resort credit.

The promo notes that you get 2 nights free on stays of 6 nights or more plus a $75 resort credit.

It looks like this might be a targeted offer from Diamond members, but the rate is pulled up when you enter the promo code WAILEA in the “Offers and Gift Certificates.” However, when you go to book the room for all 6 nights it still prices out at the full price, so there might be an issue with the Hyatt site, or you might have to be logged into your Diamond Gold Passport account. Just ascertain before you book that you are getting the correct rate for all 6 nights. I might not suggest calling Hyatt directly about it since if this is a targeted offer you don’t want to miss out. You might just try booking at a later date when it prices out correctly.

When looking up dates, enter the code WAILEA in the discount box.

I would also note that the rates are pretty high – starting at $509 a night for the entire promo period, so you might want to wait and see if they come down closer to opening to see if they do. Especially because the rate is bookable until December 19.

Here are the rest of the rate rules:

GP DIAMOND DIRECT MAIL 2 free nights and 75 USD resort credit:6 night minimum length of stay:excludes tax Book by dates: 11MAR13-19DEC13 Travel dates: 15SEP13-20DEC13 – 6 night minimum length of stay required – Normal guarantee and cancel policies apply. The new resort will be Maui’s first LEED-certified luxury hotel, with 297 rooms and suites including seven two- and four-bedroom residential villas in their own little area along one side of the property. It hotel will also have two full-service restaurants including one by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, two pool bar/grill venues, a retail market and a spa with 10 treatment rooms, an adult pool and fitness center, and access to Wailea’s tennis courts and golf courses.
