Update: 50,000 Point American Express Premier Rewards Gold Offer No Longer Available

I just got confirmation that the amazing 50,000 point offer on the Amex Premier Rewards Gold card has been pulled from the CreditCards.com Card Match Tool. Hopefully it will return (along with the 100,000 point Platinum offer we saw in January!), but this just goes to show that all great deals come to an end. For now, the best offer on the card is 25,000 points after $2,000 spent within the first three months with the $175 annual fee waived the first year.

    Got in on the 50K, thanks again. Just a reminder to new cardholders that, unlike other cards, there is a one cycle delay before the rewards post. They are in a temporary pending status. And, if you intend to close the account when the fee posts in a year, then stop spending a statement early to avoid forfeiting those points which would not post while the account is open.

    I got the 50k point offer and was about $150 short of meeting the $1000 to get the points when my statement closed 2 days ago. The payment is due april 1. Yikes, talk about a small grace period!

    any idea on the best use of the miles to travel domestically? The wife and I would like to take a vacation with an airplane flight. I’m currently working on meeting the spending requirements on the Delta AMEX for its 45k points. Can the 50k points from the Amex Premier be transferred to delta sky miles?

    It doesn’t appear you need to wait for your statement to close to see the sign-up bonus points in the “pending” category. Pending points summary is buried but it’s there. Also, you can call Amex and ask them to post the points sooner.

    Question for you Amex card holders. If I want to cancel my Platinum and go with a card that has a lower (or no) annual fee will I lose my membership rewards points?

    Yes so transfer before you cancel.

    Thanks for the quick answer! If the premier rewards gold card comes back soon, could I sign up for it, then cancel the plat (since both use membership rewards program)?

    Yes and the $175 annual fee on the PRG is waived so it would be a good way to keep your points for another year without a fee. Just make sure that when you apply that having a current Platinum card doesn’t disqualify you from signup bonus

    transferring to British Airways and then redeeming on American could be a good value- especially for short and mid-haul flights in coach

    Signed up for it, spent ~$2K first month, and the statement just closed (first month). Pending points only shows for the $ I spent, not the bonus. Should I call AMEX?

    Sometimes it takes a month. The points may also be in pending status. You can call, but I don’t see anything unusual at this point

    after I spent 2000 in three month,s they said there is no such thing as 25000 points

    I had similar situation, and when I was calling them, they said there was no such reward points, I opened the card in Jan 2013

    What was the promotional code for this? I signed up through the Card Match Tools site, hit the spend, and haven’t seen the rewards post (been two months). I just want to make sure I’m prepared before calling AMEX. Thanks!
