Hilton Daily Grand Promo – 1,000 Weeknight and 2,000 Weekend Bonus

Hilton just announced a new promo where you get 1,000 bonus points every weeknight you stay at one of their hotels and 2,000 bonus points for every weekend night between April 1 – June 30, 2013. You must register here before your stays to earn the bonuses. Only paid stays (not award nights or cash & points stays) qualify.

Per the T&C: For the purpose of this offer, “weekend night” is defined as Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for all regions except for hotels within the Middle East and Africa where “weekend night” is defined as Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. There is no limit to the total amount of bonus points earned during the promotion period. Bonus points do not count toward tier qualification.

While a bonus of up to 2,000 points per night seems generous, thanks to the Hilton HHonors devaluation that’s going to hit March 28, I value those HHonors points at about 0.5 cents each, meaning you’ll be getting just $5-$10 out of each night with this bonus – not to mention the fact that in order to earn a free night at a top-tier property now, you would have to stay a whopping 95 weeknights or 48 weekend nights!

I’m hanging onto my Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card for now, but I’m not sure for how long. My hope is to burn my Hilton points on a great top-tier property by making a reservation before the March 28 cutoff date and then see what happens. I’m a procrastinator so I’m sure it will be down to the wire!

    The Grand Wailea Maui – A Waldorf Astoria Resort is actually lowering its redemption values for 7 months out of the year with Hilton’s new points chart. All inclusive properties redemption values stay the same & the Rome Cavalieri – another Waldorf property is only increasing by 10k in some months. So even if you procrastinate, you can find some GREAT redemption properties.

    I just got a job as a frequent business traveler and will be staying in lots of different hotels. I’m trying to pick one chain to stick to. It sounds like Hilton used to be good, but they are going downhill. Do you have any other recommendations? I will be staying weekends and weekdays.

    I strongly agree with this. I have been (and remain up until this year) a Diamond member with Hilton for nearly a decade. With that said, their program has gotten much, much worse over the years and, as of this year, it is my fourth choice chain. I’ve switched almost all of my stays to Club Carlson as the point earning is SOOOOOOO much better with this chain and it also costs far less points to redeem. Hilton stopped rewarding their patrons for their loyalty and, as such, I’m not going to reward their arrogance with my business. FYI, I stay approximately 200 nights per year in hotels. Hope this helps!
