Priority Club has released the PointBreaks properties for the next two months, February and March. Priority Club PointBreaks are reduced-level award redemptions at Priority Club hotels (Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Indigo, Holiday Inn, etc.) that require just 5,000 Priority Club points for a free night and that change every 2 months. 5,000 points is a pretty low redemption level especially for Intercontinental properties, which normally require between 30,000-50,000 points, and Hotel Indigo locations and Crowne Plazas, which require between 25,000-35,000 points.
If you need Priority Club points quickly, they transfer 1:1 from Chase Ultimate Rewards (note: transfers usually take 1-2 business days) if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Bold or Ink Plus cards. Or simply buy them via Priority Club directly for .7 cents a point using the cash & points method described in this post (#7).
The list of PointBreak properties is usually pretty random – both in terms of hotels and locations – but it doesn’t hurt to keep track of which properties are included, because you never know where you might find yourself, and the opportunity to redeem just 5,000 points for a free night instead of say 35,000-50,000 for a Crowne Plaza or Intercontinental is hard to pass up. Remember, though, there are a limited amount of rooms available at these rates at the various hotels, so if you know your travel plans, or even think you might be heading to one (or more) of these places, you should make your PointBreaks reservation sooner rather than later (you can usually cancel for free if your plans change).
As I said, the PointBreaks list changes every 2 months and can be pretty random, and this roundup is no exception with some far-flung properties and a woeful lack of high-end Intercontinentals and Hotel Indigos. I’m kind of disappointed with the list (as usual, lately), but hey, at least there’s an Intercontinental in Fiji if your plans are taking you to the South Pacific this spring!
